It’s easy not to know much about the world around us because high school has more than enough work, sports, and other activities. The danger of breaking out and reading about policy, politics, and culture is we become stuck on the sidelines of Team Right or Team Left, dug in and closed to the other side. High school has always been an environment where we are open to new ideas and want to learn the unknown. Our fellow students have a real thirst to write and read articles where the author presents a prescription to issues on a local, national, and global scale. Lighthouse is also committed to being non-partisan, or at least avoiding the controversial and emotional issues that get readers blocked. Please look at our past issues to learn about topics ranging from semiconductor production in America and ethical concerns with fast fashion to gentrification's effect on food insecurity and Ukrainian immigration status.
